Former banker Maren Bertram has not regretted her return to her native Bertramshof. The relationship with her stubborn father Maximilian relaxes more every day, and Maren is looking forward to the arrival of her son Michael, who is traveling from New York for an art history research project. The only cause for concern Maren is the uncertain financial situation of the property. Her business partner, with whom she was planning a future-oriented senior housing project, fled abroad before the tax investigation. He previously sold the promissory notes that he owned from Bertramshof to a mysterious investor named Maxi Müller. Fortunately, the new co-owner turns out to be an open-minded, modern businesswoman who wants to support Maren's plans. But then the bomb bursts: Maximilian and Maxi only recently found out that she was his illegitimate daughter. This fact doesn't seem to interest the stubborn old man, Maxi remains a stranger to him - he doesn't even consider it necessary to exchange a friendly word with her.
