Rosa was born into a wealthy Lebanese family in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As she grew up in a palace, she fell in love with Rachid, a poor boy from the countryside. Despite her family's objections, they got married and moved to the suburbs. Due to a degenerative disease she almost went blind when their first child was born. Rachid sold everything they had to afford a trip to New York, the only place where Rosa could be treated.
