Start Local

Start Local (2013)

Start Local is an uplifting documentary that will explore the importance of shopping locally and the impact it has on a single community. Local filmmaker Nate Lacroix along with co-producer Ashley Matt have set out to discover what it really means to be 'local' in this feature length documentary that focuses on a small Ontario community and the people in it who support and encourage the local movement. The film examines what 'local' means through the words and wisdom of those who rely on their community to thrive as well as expert opinions on why adopting a more local lifestyle will improve our lives and the wellbeing of those around us. True to the message, the film takes place and is being produced almost entirely locally. Everything from the production crew, to funding, and even the soundtrack for the film comes from the talents and generosity of members of the community. Start Local isn't just a film about the local movement, it is a part of it!
