Rue Des Invalides

Rue Des Invalides (2012)

RUE DES INVALIDES is a tragi-comedy film about a boy in a wheelchair who searches for love in wheelchair unfriendly Paris. The film is made by Mari Sanders (writer/director) and Jasper Knol (producer) Mari (who is wheelchair-bound since birth) based the script on autobiographical experiences and a diary he wrote during a trip to Paris. The film focuses on the place of a handicapped person in society. It also deals with self-acceptance of both the disabled as the people surrounding them. Jasper and Mari realized the budget through crowd-funding. Both graduated from the St. Joost Art academy in Breda (The Netherlands) in 2012. The cast contains known and lesser known Belgian, French and Dutch actors. The lead-role is portrayed by award winning actor Niels Gomperts
